Membership - Get in on the Action!

Our action-packed calendar covers a complete spectrum of member-organized activities:

Social Activities - It's party time at PCYC, from formal dinner dancing to Reggae. There's always plenty of action and live music in over 30 events a year.

Cruises - With eleven major Club cruises per year, weekend trips to sister clubs at other harbors, and to the Channel Islands, there is always a new and interesting adventure.

Sailing - There are racing events for all levels and abilities, from the Pacific Corinthian Yachting Cup to VCORC and TGIS races. Over 30 on-the-water club events allow everyone to participate.

Fishing - This club fishes! With local fishing tournaments, offshore big-game fish contests and in-the-harbor dinghy fishing events, PCYC fishermen have won major contests from Cabo to Santa Barbara.

Youth Program - PCYC has the most active program in the area. Over 24 in-the-water and on-the-water swimming, sailing and seamanship events were held last summer.

Marina - PCYC operates the Pacific Corinthian Marina, comprised of over 150 boat slips plus on-shore support facilities. Income from the 1.5 million dollar marina benefits PCYC members.

Fun and Education - PCYC members enjoy themselves with scheduled golf and card games, ladies luncheons and more. We offer group trips from Alaska to the Greek Islands. Our members travel interests range from charter boat cruising, to sight-seeing and shopping. Boating education and safety are always a top priority.

Our members enjoy reciprocal privileges at over 80 sister clubs ranging from Vancouver to Cabo and Hawaii.

PCYC ON THE WATER
We have established a reputation for hospitality through reciprocity with yacht clubs worldwide. Our 180-foot guest dock accommodates visiting yachts throughout the year, and we have earned a solid standing in the yachting community through VCORC (Ventura County Ocean Racing Circuit) and the Annual McNish Classic Yacht Race for classic wooden sailing vessels. Both races were originated and Sponsored by PCYC. We are members of and participate in events of SCYA (Southern California Yachting Association), SCCA (Southern California Cruiser Association) and US Sailing (United States Yacht Racing Union). Our trophy cases attest to the success of our members' on-the-water activities.

PCYC IN THE CLUBHOUSE
The Year's calendar is planned around cruising, racing and fishing, and such activities as the official Opening Day of the yachting season, the Change of Watch, Commodore's Ball and seasonal parties. The clubhouse is open to members and their guests and to visiting yachtsmen Wednesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner. Additionally, on Sunday there is a full breakfast served. Members are invited to host private parties and meetings in the clubhouse by arrangement with the Club Manager.

PCYC IN THE COMMUNITY
As individuals, and as PCYC, participation in community affairs is encouraged. We are known to be available and dependable when various city and county agencies have need of vessels for harbor cruises or for other forms of hospitality when out-of-town visitors are in the area. Our members and facilities are often called upon to lend support to the Department of the Navy, Oxnard Visitors and Convention Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, Ventura Power Squadron, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Harbor Management, and other agencies and organizations.

PCYC JUNIOR MEMBERS
Of all the activities offered by PCYC membership, none is more rewarding than participation in programs involving our junior members. Although the juniors are self-motivated, adults are necessarily involved as advisers or instructors. Their on-the-water activities include Sabot sailing and racing, and during cruises, water skiing and dinghy races. PCYC sponsors the Pacific Corinthian Youth Foundation to provide sailing instruction to local youth. Membership in the youth foundation does not require PCYC membership. The youth foundation trains young people to sail, to develop self-esteem, to develop a respect for the environment and the ocean, to learn cooperation, and provides a positive competitive experience.

MEMBERSHIP
PCYC membership is limited by the county to four hundred families. Each membership represents one vote, and either spouse has the privilege of voicing that vote. Intermediate membership is open to members' children between the ages of 21 and 34. All younger children of members automatically become junior members. Associate membership is available to applicants between the ages of 21 and 34. Intermediate and Associate members are not voting members.
